Not as much the film but the perception of the attack on a religion by that film not unlike the Christians viewing things as being attacks on their beliefs. The religious conservatives in the US are usually not as violent but we have had our share of bombings and killings resulting from religious views in recent history.

The film did its job. a handful of people watched it apparently its not a very good film but thats not the point clips went on you-tube and then extremists used it as an excuse to incite violence this will lead to cycle of violence I have no doubt that is what the makers of the film intend. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

You know better than that. Though we could use death tolls as opposed to frequency of attacks over time.

I don't know Fos I see alot of people on the internet complaining about Muslims demanding that something must be done (what exactly) who probably don't know any Muslims I imagine have no Muslim friends and have never been to a Muslim country and from my point of view seem to have a very unnuanced view.

Also the IRA have killed people about 3 miles away from my house. Murder is murder.

Either leave them alone or communicate with them in a language they understand--violence. Knowing a Muslim, knowing 10, or 100 doesn't change that. Being in the proximity of a different, related, but comparatively isolated problem doesn't either.

How long were the Libyans relatively quiet after Reagan "handled" them? They got the message.

Seems to me, you could say the same thing about the U.S. today - certainly in regards to the empire that America has built to control international trade! The whole reason for the overthrow of Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein in Iraq, was to get their large oil reserves under the control of western oil companies. And that's why successive U.S. administrations - Democratic and Republican, have no intentions of leaving them alone. If there was a serious attempt to phase out oil development, no one would care how Libya, Egypt or Yemen reacted to a propaganda youtube video. But, oil-dependent nations who want to control and develop these oil reserves must have occupying armies, puppet regimes, and large embassies and other support staff. So, that puts a lot people potentially in harm's way because of the chase for the last of the large oil reserves in the world.

Of course. We understand either way and are generally more proficient both ways anyway.

You're right. We won't ever leave them well enough alone because we're unwilling to accept the potential consequences.
