A friendly tip (even though I suspect you are a troll...) If you want a person's support, do not just give them a web site; briefly state what it is all about, and why you want me to go to that site. So a 'no-kill' centre kills cats and kittens? Have you thought about how there may be a reason? Animals too sick or hurt to survive being given a kind death? That some wild-caught, feral cats simply can never be become a domestic pet, and therefore would suffer greatly by being kept in captivity yet cannot be released?

Show you are a thinking as well as a caring person. Emotion is cheap, websites and petitions do not cost you anything either. Thinking does. But do it. For the animals' sake.

First, I assure you I am not a troll. Second, there is nothing "brief" about this situation and your references to sick animals or unadoptable feral cats is way off base.

Now, as briefly as possible, this involves a "no kill rescue" which takes in "adoptable" cats and kittens. The facilities mission statement reads in part; "providing lifetime sanctuary to homeless pets until adoption". This facility has killed hundreds of healthy cats and kittens because of incompetence or some other motive by the veterinarian. (She makes more money euthanizing than vaccinating). We fully understand that even a no kill facility must sometimes euthanize animals for health or behavior reasons. That is not the case here.

Upon intake the cats are tested for the FeLV/Fiv virus. In this case far too many were coming up positive for the virus and were being euthanized. Volunteers at the organization had many cats that tested positive and would have been put to death retested, some on the same day by a different veterinarian utilizing two different methods and these cats were found to be negative for the virus.

After approaching the veterinarian and the board of directors with medical documentation of faulty testing the vet and the board did not want to hear it. The vet continued to test and euthanize the very same day she was notified there was a problem with the testing. And the board fired several employees and banned many volunteers who tried to speak up for the cats.

This vet has the highest positive Felv/Fiv rate in the nation yet did not question it. Neither did the board of directors. The vet is still employed there while the employees and volunteers who tried to get the matter addressed have been removed.

Cats are only one set of species that will ALL die off because of human overpopulation caused pollution and depletion effects, like exhaust and slash burning GHGs. What Cobie said was very good and reasonable. YOU are the one being unreasonable.
The priority should be saving the species with saving the biosphere, and ourselves, too, from extinction by induced thermageddon.

Personally, I don't know why an animal concerns forum is here, except that it is an environmental sub-section, not an ARA platform per se.
This is envirolink, not animal rights link. Concern is one thing, and ARA is quite another.

Actually, the old animal concerns (rights) forum and the old environmental forum were combined by Josh several years ago, so both have an equal footing in his eyes and he calls the shots.

Hello "Save the cats":

Now if you had explained about the shelter first up, there would have been no need for you to be offended at my response. I make it a policy never to click on just a web site reference, no matter how I may feel about the topic, simply because I do not want to increase the number of "hits" of some of the more off-beam or animal rights sites, and give then the idea I actually support what they post. It is up to a poster, if they want help or support, to make their case in a few lines, as you have done since. And yes, I do agree that a shelter that claims it is "no-kill" must not kill adoptable cats and kittens. What is it you want, then? My suggestion would be to collect solid evidence, then publicize them locally, or better still, see whther there are any authorities that you can approach. Who licences the shelters? What are the conditions for licensing? What about "false advertising" rules? Good luck, Cobie

The children of the future haven't even been born yet .... still conceptual. The children who are living on the planet now are a reality and not a concept The animals are also a reality, not a concept.

Breathe. Animals are part and parcel of this thing we call the environment. As it happens to them, it happens to all of us. Totally connected, whether you like it or nay!

Clearly, non-humans have gone extinct during human existence, so that didn't "happen to all of us". Some have become threatened, endangered, some have even risen from such status. All the while, human population has been on the rise. You should probably better define what you mean by "connected".
