I'm new in EnviroLink and I dont' know if this topic has been already discussed. If so, let me know where can I find the link.

But here it is: we all know that if we want to stop the climate change we need to reach the goal of emitting no more than 400 Gigatons of CO2. Why? Because this will limit global tempreature rise to 2 degrees Celsius - a rise that the Earth can support. But that will only happen if countries like India, China and the US work together. I read a post a few days ago about this but I really would like to hear what you have to say about it. What can be done to stop climate change?

Here is the link of the post I read: http://abcofsolar.com/how-vulnerable-is ... te-change/

Even if the entire world consigned themselves to poverty, economic and energy, you are still never going to stop climate change.

Climate change has been going on long before man, and will continue long after we are gone.

Please forgive poor Milton as he is so blinded by his consumption of industry and political lies that he does not understand the difference between "changing climate", which is natural, and "climate change", which is human induced change.

So this proves the very first point in politics and climate-issues:

Until one can convince said political-types that such change is in fact happening; nothing much else is going to happen.

Getting heads up out of the sand will likely be a full-time chore....

The necessary amount of HGHG reduction, and in the time we had, just isn't there internationally.

Nations’ climate pledges will still leave emissions rising for years, U.N. says
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/ene ... -u-n-says/

So part of what miltie said is true in that we won't stop climate change. He just refuses to think human overpopulation and pollution far beyond absorption can and is driving this 'extinction level event' we are already in. Ignorant or informed, dumb or smart, we all go. The innocent and the guilty all die. None of the future that could have been, if we hadn't over-populated, thought ahead of consequences, didn't allow greed, and were not the equivalent of herd animals in intelligence. ](*,) #-o 8-[ :-s  [-o<

You left out the root cause of overpopulation very far past sustainable for far too long. Changes should have been made last century, and now open ocean Arctic ice loss reaches the Siberian Shelf methane(2021-23) and it goes self-releasing 52GTs of CH4 in a few years(3 times the
atmospheric carbon).
What you have is called "Hopium". The false belief that humans can stop what they started. The false idea of the safety of a 2*C rise, which is .2-.4 more than required for the methane turnover process to begin, in geologic history. The false belief that humanity has until 2030 to stop Thermageddon.
A combination of factors crashes the human population as temperatures begin exponential rise. This eventually kills off all survivors and other species.
You put in outdated polls like it is 1999. It is just as bad as denial of CAGW, IMHO.

"In 2016, Americans will go to the polls to elect a new president, 34 senators, 435 representatives and 12 governors, not to mention countless state and local leaders. And despite this happening during what many scientists believe will be the hottest year on record and the stakes for the planet growing ever higher, climate change won't crack the list of top political issues.

"Climate change, barring some enormous visible catastrophe on U.S. soil, is unlikely to be a major issue in the election," said Jack Pitney, a political scientist at Claremont McKenna College. "But many people will be working to raise its profile, and there will be more discussion than there was before.""
http://insideclimatenews.org/news/05012 ... -327779449

"A 2014 flip was detected in the sluggish and elusive ocean cycle known as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, or PDO, which also goes by other names, including the Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation. Despite uncertainty about the fundamental nature of the PDO, leading scientists link its 2014 phase change to a rapid rise in global surface temperatures.

The effects of the PDO on global warming can be likened to a staircase, with warming leveling off for periods, typically of more than a decade, and then bursting upward.

“It seems to me quite likely that we have taken the next step up to a new level,” said Kevin Trenberth, a scientist with the National Center for Atmospheric Research.

The 2014 flip from the cool PDO phase to the warm phase, which vaguely resembles a long and drawn out El Niño event, contributed to record-breaking surface temperatures across the planet in 2014.

The record warmth set in 2014 was surpassed again in 2015, when global temperatures surged to 1°C (1.8°F) above pre-industrial averages, worsening flooding, heatwaves and storms."

As long as our political system remains this corrupt, from money, banks, and corporate influence, there is little hope real change will be made. The only politician currently running who thinks CC is an issue, and would do something about it, is Bernie Sanders, and his economic policies would basically make America unrecognizable as such. However, John Kasich recently declared support for CC, so there may be hope for the Republicans after all. I would encourage liberal-leaning people to vote for Bernie, and conservative-leaning people, Kasich. The issue of climate change needs to go beyond partisanship.

Anything that would have worked should have been initiated well into last century. We are in runaway, the Arctic ice is breaking up way early, and up to 30*F hotter than it should be up there. The release point of the first 50GT methane blast could be this year, or 2019 at latest. Bernie's too little too late won't cut it. Within three years after, temps will be going up at the rate of 1*F per year.

"Suppose that your mom is sick. None of her brothers, sisters or children have taken her complaints seriously. Everybody has carried on with their own busy lives, thinking that mom was imagining things, and assuming that she was fine. And then she took a turn for the worse. Everybody close suddenly realized that she was very frail and ill, depleted of her energy and resources. She was no longer the ageless, sacred source of life that nurtures all living beings. Now, suppose that she is everyone’s mother. She is Mother Earth. And her illness is abrupt climate change" ~ Paul Beckwith

A human caused Toba Effect, if soon enough, might stop it.

By focusing on having proper policies in place? Also it's important to device proper climate change communication strategies. The existing ones are beyond me... All that jargon makes me dizzy!
