CORRECTION:

Just in case anyone out there is thinking of going vegan, I should mention that my wife & I also mix in Brewer's yeast or nutritional yeast with our food from time to time. I guess that's kind of like taking supplements. I don't know why this escaped my attention when I posted this morning. Anyway, I'm letting readers know this because I wouldn't want someone to get an anemic blood count on my account.

Only if they are fortified with B-12 which is not always the case. The last time I checked the bacteria from which the B-12 was extracted was grown in vats of milk, which would tend to make the supplement somewhat less vegan IMO.

There is nothing wrong with a vegetarian or vegan diet if one is properly educated on what is required to stay healthy, but as in the vaccine discussion there are still a lot of sites with incorrect information so be careful. For example, the myth abut seaweed and B!2 still pops up but has been disproved. Making sure the food is fortified or that you take the proper supplements are the only ways for a vegan to safely get B12.
