Nothing important Josh.

I'm just wondering if you saw this new thread here in the feedback section and thought, "Oh for the love of....WHAT NOW?"

A post about nothing at all? Either this is a great premise for a sitcom or it's like most of the other posts here!

Heh...nothing important, is what I said.

But c'mon...right before you opened it, that fleeting thought didn't cross your mind?

We're at opposites on a lot of stuff, but you seem a pretty good egg, Josh. I just thought you displayed a little frustration lately, and figured to lighten up the mood a little.

Thank God you added this... our intricate network of offshore subsidiaries can not be disrupted by errant claims of embryo defamation.

BTW... you original posting would have had more of the "oh what now" reaction if you had started the title with "Josh..."
:(

ps - as I age, I keep looking more and more like an egg, but I've never been told I'm a good one, thanks!

Okay, so now along with Donnie, RF, and Wayne Stollings, all regular posters at animalrights.net and/or ethicdiscussion.com (both AR bashing sites), you've now added Amy and Festus - two long-time posters at ethicdiscussion.com - to the roster. Top it all off with archer, meat-hunter (or whatever his name is), oinks, Red, Fosgate, Thelia - & probably more I've forgotten - and congratulations, Josh: You're well on the way to becoming the premier AR bashing site on all the net. And here you sit, yucking it up with them.

Look, I'm not even speaking to you as a member of this board at this point. But get a clue: You're being played like a fiddle.

If you're having trouble remembering things, it helps to write them down. Seems with the obvious time and effort you've spent traipsing after folks all over cyberspace, you'd not want to take a chance losing track of the important details.

OTOH - I remember Nixon getting in a stir for keeping an official enemies list.

Hey josh - do you know "Ida Red"?

I'll yuck it up with just about anyone... laughter is frequently a great way to lower tension levels and calm inflammatory situations down. Why is it that you and everyone else here assume that I want this to be a pro- or anti- anything only discussion site?? How many times do I need to restate the same thing? This forum has never been a pro or an anti forum on any topic and I hope it will never be.

How exactly am I being played like a fiddle? I've stated my intent for this place (many times) and I'm about 80% happy with the way things are going.

If the ARA or Animal Welfare or whomever folks think this place is ground worth defending... do it on the issues. I'm not going to sit here and ban people (from either side) because I disagree with them. We've had a big reduction in the personal attacks (from both sides) and the discussions have been fairly substantive (for the most part). I can't understand this desire to censor all opinions that you don't share.

When are the AR folks going to realize we Animal use folk have a working relationship with animals that can be tracked back to the caveman days through ancestry. Animal Concerns are of obvious importance to us and narrow scoping the issues is not fair to humans nor animals. I think the major problem for the AR to get their heads around is that We animal use people do care about animals. Some of us are willing to exchange dialog with people who would dictate how animals are to be treated and some of those dictators wouldn't know the difference between a cow, steer and bull in a field. By the way Debunking Animal Rights Myths doesn't equate to AR bashing. It is debunking unbelievable claims of some ARA who have created some pretty obvious myths.

Okay. Thanks for posting this; at least I'm clear now on where you stand and what your aims are for this forum, and the kind of person you are (a rube, and/or, as far as animals are concerned at any rate, something of a shit). That helps (clarify things for me I mean, from a personal standpoint).

So you are aware of who post where because you visit those sites as well? Arc and Phanto have both alluded to the other sites they seem to visit on a regular basis. I started off on this site, in fact, I opposed the joining of the old enivronmental board with the animal rights board (Josh, I still disagree with the concept but I have been sucked in) in no uncertain terms. It is too bad that the old posts were lost or you could see just how "interesting" the discussions were between Josh and I. I believe he is more of an pro-AR person than I am and that created a more pro-AR aura in the beginning, but it is all relative to his being fair in the allowance of discussions.

I have been to several boards and I find the only ones who will regularly censor views are those very pro-AR sites. To get censored on this site or Brian's site, you have to be repeatedly warned about disruptive behavior. To be banned at other sites all you have to do is question a blatant case of libel or just hold an opposing view.

Nah, Brian's site is much better for the archives on the errors and problems within the AR movement.

You are not a member but you are registered and posting ..... and who needs to get a clue?  Really, if you truly believe there is misrepresentation of the AR movement, pull up your keyboard and give the references to support your claim. The facts will speak for themselves.

My greatest aspiration for what happens to my body after I die is to be pooped out of another animal, preferably a shark, bear or large bird of prey. I've actually very seriously considered having my body shipped to Nepal where it can be left out on a rock on a mountain top so the birds of prey will come eat what's left of you. It doesn't seem possible to do it without involving a lot of preservatives, which defeats the purpose anyway. I've also looked into being dumped in a swamp. If this means that "as far as the animals are concerned" I'm "something of a shit" that works for me.

Otherwise, if you think I am going to change the way things have been done (fairly well) for over 14 years, you must really think I'm gullible. BTW, according to dictionary.com:
Quote:
rube n. Slang
An unsophisticated country person.

It's funny... Red, RF and Donnie call me an "urbanist" and you (and I suppose all of the animals in the world, if you are to be believed) are calling me a country bumpkin. I must be doing something right if both sides think I am wrong!

I can only speak for myself, but to the best of my recollection I've never used that word before (assuming it is a word). :D

"Rube": unsophisticated; unintelligent (as a "country bumpkin" is presumed to be).

As in (contextually, within my post): You're being played for a rube (as relating to the statement made in my previous post: "You're being played like a fiddle").

As in (contextually, within my post): "I'm clear now on . . . the kind of person you are (a rube . . .)." That is: you are one who is allowing himself to be played for a rube. I conceived of two possibilities: 1) you're an unknowing rube, but one whose gullibility nevertheless reveals a fundamental antipathy to animal advocates (and hence is something of a shit as far as animals are concerned); 2) you're not a rube (though you look like one), just fundamentally antipathetic to animal advocates, particularly those who identify themselves with AR. Hence the "and/or".

Quote: ". . . if you think I am going to change the way things have been done (fairly well) for over 14 years . . ."
"Fairly well" is a matter of opinion. I imagine the hundreds (thousands?) of people who came to this forum over the past 14 years expecting to find actual support for their animal concerns, then left after a matter of a couple of posts and a couple of days, might hold a different opinion than yours. And I'd expect the number of such people to rise ever more rapidly, given that you plan to continue managing the forum as you currently do.

Note: Your attempt to use humor to draw me into the fold (my presumption, but I think I'm correct) was not unappreciated. It's unaccepted, but not unappreciated.

Going . . . going . . .

Pray, do tell me VeePee, since I am such a country bumpkin that doesn't have a clue (or a collaborator with the anti-animal machine), how should I fix the problems that you see here? You (and others who sound curiously like you) threaten to leave here (yet never seem to), complain about how horrible it is here, but don't seem to offer up a solution.

What's the problem, and what's your solution? Please also provide some reference points to other online forums where your solution has been implemented and is working. I'm sure since you are so much more experienced at these things than a rube like me you'll have lots of good examples.

And be met with yet more mangled re-interpretation and defensive sarcasm? Thanks, I'll take a pass.

. . . gone.
