Cyberbullies

Cyberbullying is becoming a major problem on the internet. It is something that is not understood by many people until they actually come face-to-face with it. Because bullying on the internet tends to be more psychological than physical, many people are apt to dismiss it out of hand. "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me" does not apply here. Words are the very medium of the internet and they can be used with devastating effect.

It is not limited to children bullying children, either. Many adults have become victims of cyberbullies as well. They're bewildered to find themselves singled out and treated differently from other people in their online group. They find their posts being ignored, marginalized or overruled on a constant basis. They'll find that things they say are being twisted or distorted. Their reputation gets trashed. Often it doesn't help to quit a group, chat or forum and walk away from the situation. The bullies will often follow them online from forum to forum, group to group, chat to chat....

It's the internet.. there are weirdos, wackos, bullies, submissives, etc. everywhere.

Most places have a nifty ignore feature that people often fail to use.

Thanks Origam. I myself have felt a little victimized by Grace following me from FMB to here...not to mention the subsequent and sudden appearance of another poster who tends to follow and harass.

But I feel much better now. :D

A child being forced to go to a school where they are being bullied is quite different than an adult signing on to the internet and co-habitating places where they are either actively being bullied or have been bullied.

Do y'all really dislike each other that much?

Can't you agree to disagree? Or something?

Maybe you should try bullying them into agreeing to disagree.

Interesting Grace. There are several here who seem to fancy themselves as bullies but once their modus operandi becomes apparent, its pretty easy to just ignore them.

A better question....how the heck does one get bullied on a board that they choose to open and close at their own will?

Silly stuff...

I've had one site actually change there banner to make me mad, tell everyone to change there avatars and signatures, make a forum, ect all about meat. And I am still go there.

Then on another site a member did all kinds of things to make me mad... it really gets annoying after awhile.
