Great animal photos.
I must say that most of our pets are rescued animals. Not wild animals, unwanted pets. It is sad that people take on pets with out understanding the responsibility associated with having a pet. Anyway thanks for sharing.

Well the calves were a bit cheaper at the sale today, so I was able to come home with some. I suppose the fact it rained all day and is suppose to keep raining all weekend kept people from wanting to try a bottle calf. Nothing like wet weather to make them sick. These three were all feed lot calves, and I was able to get them all for $45. All ate when they got home, so we're half way there.

They look to be in pretty good shape, especially for that price.

If I had the room I'd have ya ship me 10 of those calves.
Last beefer I shipped brought almost 80cents a pound.
If corn prices stay low that would be a nice investment.

Cute pig...course they're all cute when small.
I may have to get a few in a couple of years when I start getting milk from my cows.

Just got 3 bunnies today. Gonna keep em in big cages and move them around the property to clean up the grass the cows can't get at.
And I read a buck and 2 does can keep you in up to 200 pounds of meat a year.

Sammy, they were pretty cheap yesterday, but I have a feeling next Friday if it's warm and sunny the price will go up. Three, day old calves soaking wet and cold should make for more then one case of scours. Must be where the name little squirt came from.

I'm hoping to pick up a couple more next week if they don't go up too much. Maybe I should have picked up the other group of three at $40 each. But I just hated taking a shot at 6 head at once during bad weather conditions.

Archer, mine was up and looking good today. When we got back yesterday mine didn't want to get up to eat. Actually he became mine when my daughter picked the two they thought looked like they would live. Dad gets the one most likely to die, lol. But this morning mine was up and running around like the others, and ate good. So maybe we'll have a chance at saving all of them, which is one or two more then I thought when I bought them.

I think it's a sin they separate calves from their mother so young. They're probably depressed, lonely and confused. But at least they ate. Give them lots of TLC.

Yes, she's a PITA, but we love her anyway.
Sound familiar?

HAH

Just get some good quality milk replacer at the proper temp in em and rub their sides and back while they're feeding and you become "mom".
I do think calves shouldn't be sold for at least 3 days so they have a chance to get moms colostrum in em. Lots of good stuff for calves in that.

Nice clean stall and good feed will go a long way towards keeping them healthy.
If you're really worried splurge and get milk replacer with some teramyacin in it to safeguard against scours.
