We were pulled into a meeting at work this morning. It appears with all the special projects and the expanded workloads that the cost of hiring new people has come up. Currently they hire temps to do special projects. The whole thing is getting shaken up.
The idea now is to send the projects overseas. The company does that right now for huge projects that don't require a whole lot of training. Ehh.. cheap labor doesn't always mean complete and accurate. Part of our Mission, Vission, Values statement is "Current, Accurate, and Reliable" information.. the reason we have a lot of clean up projects is because the training they give the people overseas SUCKS and doesn't give them everything they need to do the job correctly in the first place.
The company is now going to send people who are knowledgeable in the process overseas to do the training rather than have a handful of people from overseas come here and get trained and then take that training back with them.
I wonder how much money the company will save in the long run.
I wonder more.. if India or the Phillipines is ready for me.
