Hmmm. I just went there and found an interesting post (in blue) in the What is your Diet thread. I have bolded/underlined the parts which elevated my eyebrows an inch.

This post struck me when I was reading this thread for the first time. It was the word "compassion" that made me want to post the following: Compassion for human or non human animals is not a requirement when one is involved in any struggle for rights - human or non-human. I know a couple of AR activists who don't particularly like non human animals (I suspect they don't like human animals either...) but this does not stop them from being vegan and from taking time out of their busy days to fight for the rights of non human animals to be freed from their slavery.


I'm was quite surprised to hear an AR wouldn't particularly LIKE animals. That makes no bloody sense. And I don't believe it.



There is this misconception that animal rights activists are necessarily people who "love" animals. The two are not incompatible, but are not obligatory siamese twins.

The fight for Animal Rights which goes hand in hand with the anti-specist philosophy is primarily a political struggle. This is true. Animal rights has little to do with emotion (though it is the drive for a lot of AR activists).

Please don't get me going on this again, guys! My cat is still recovering from all the floor-paceing and cussing I've done over that person!
