Just stepping up to say hello and introduce myself a bit. I am a 39 year old ranch wife of 4 kids and a husband, LOL. Yep, rancher *gasp* contributing to natural methane production and proud of it :D

We make or living off of being good stewards of the land and our stock. Thought I'd stop by and listen in a bit and see how the wind blows in this corner of the web. Can't get here regularly, as chores and life interrupts, but will enjoy the visit while I'm here.

Hello. Nothing wrong with being a rancher. There is quite a variety of people here. You will fit in just fine.

Howdy-do, Goodpony!
It's good we have so many viewpoints and backgrounds! There's a couple very general questions about ranching I'll be getting around to.

Thank you both for the welcome.

I'll be more than happy to answer any questions with what I know and what I think I know, LOL.

And pictures! I am a photoholic and much to the disgust of my husband, often have a camera hanging around my neck. :D He thinks that means I'm not working hard enough, LOL.

Why thank you (though I wonder if I'm coming for dinner or dinner on that Ranch issue  )

I'll have a little more time tomorrow to chat and share a glimpse of the life here, got a 4-H meeting to head off to at 6 and it's 5 here now. Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Some MAY try to eat you alive, but most just gum on your ankles for awhile, but if you can fry squirrel you will have a following with me .... OK maybe some of that Texas BBQ would work too .... it was very different from the pork BBQ here ... about 5 pounds worth ...

Grew up as a farm boy/woodlot worker/trapper/hunter/fisher here in Eastern Canada. Life of hard work made me a bit crusty but I do have a compassionate side. I patted a cat once. :-

LOL, don't think I can help you on that "fried squirrel" issue Wayne. When you have a freezer full of steaks and roast because you raise it, it's hard to think seriously about eating a rodent.

But, I have tried turtle and raccoon, once. Think I'll take a rib-eye instead.

Hey Donnie - I have just the cat for you. You reach down to pet her and she'll take a chunck out of your hand. Barn cats have no manners.

They treat you differently when you are milking the cows and are rubbing against your leg in the hope of getting a spray from the udder. To busy licking their chops to notice how much they usually distrust the farm boy. :-$
