Detailed Information:
The Stirling University Green Group, of Stirling in Scotland, is a non-profit organisation devoted to helping increase awareness of environmental issues within and beyond the university campus, as well as taking a more direct, non-violent approach. We have recently run a campaign to prevent the felling of over a hundred mature oak trees on the campus, which met with great success, and are currently running a recycling scheme, and setting up a car-sharing scheme to reduce the impact of university transport on the environment....fewer fumes, and no new carpark (the university management propose the creation of a new carpark with over 850 spaces). We also try to address global issues, and provide students with information on stratospheric ozone depletion, global warming, acid rain, and loss of biodiversity. We have weekly meetings to discuss any topics which our members bring up, and regularly host guest lectures and guided walks.
