Detailed Information:
The Environment and Community Program is based on the premise that a justand sustainable world requires us to recognize the inseparability ofsocial and environmental equity. It offers a unique focus on therelationship between the natural environment and human communities byemphasizing social science perspectives and natural science literacy.The Pacific Northwest has long been and continues to be one of the worlds mostexciting and important real-world laboratories for the core work of theEnvironment and Community Program. The program's overarching focus is onimproving and fostering environmentalstewardship and accountability in our institutions, communities, industry, andthe economy. We stress individual and collaborative problem solving, conflictresolution and communication skills,institutional change processes, and working proactively with groups ofdiverse stakeholders. We currently have students spanning both coasts of theU.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa.
