In the early to mid-60`s the residents of a peninsula between the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers--who had lived in relative insulation since the 1700`s--were forced to move to ensure that the Land Between the Lakes would remain for ever non-commercial and undeveloped. Now TVA is commercializing the LBL and Congress is calling this a test case to determine how much the public will tolerate in its shift of funding from appropriations to self-generated funding. The outcome of this issue will affect the future of ALL public lands.
