Detailed Information:
Project Underground supports communities facing mining, oil and gas operations thru a variety of campaign strategies and tactics. Online we are attempting to respond to the needs for information about the history, nuances and practices of mineral and energy sector companies in communities dealing with them worldwide. Twice-monthly we publish "DrillBits and Tailings" -- a virtual bulletin about issues pertaining to the mining and oil industry. We are also regularly publishing action alerts on campaign issues, including Shell/ Nigeria and the Freeport gold mine in Irian Jaya; and slowly but surely we are building up a database on these companies and the resistance of communties to them. This will become an important interactive, internet resource in the ongoing struggle of peoples around the planet to protect all human rights, especially the right to a healthy environment.
