The NIEHS Superfund Basic Research Program, now in its tenth year, provides funding to 17 programs at 69 universities and institutions around theUnited States to study the human health effects of hazardous substancesin the environment-especially those found at uncontrolled, leaking waste disposal sites-and to develop new technology that will help to remediate contaminated sites
