The National Aeronautics and Space Administration`s mission is to advance science and technology in the disciplines appropriate to aeronautics and space activities; to develop applications of aerospace technology; to explore space; to develop and operate those systems necessary to furthering space science, technology, applications, and exploration; to seek cooperation with other nations and groups of nations in the peaceful application of space activities; and to develop the necessary human resources to support these efforts. NASA has developed a Strategic Plan which will take the aerospace program into the next century. NASA also provides aerospace research and development support to other agencies of the U.S. government as they discharge their respective responsibilities and seeks to encourage the fullest possible commercial use of space.
