The goals of the EPO reflect its commitment to this mission, as well as a determination to remain responsive in an evolving professional landscape:
To embrace a broad definition of the environment which includes the natural and physical elements and emphasize the relationship of people and society to it.
To be responsive, as a non-profit and non-partisan organization, to the scientific, economic, and cultural interests of the membership and the community.
To cultivate an EPO membership, comprised of environmental professionals from a broad range of backgrounds, which flourishes through camaraderie and personal involvement.
To provide state-of-the-art educational programs and services over a wide range of issues, from local to global, important to the environmental professional.
To inform the EPO membership of the environmental perspectives held by both the regulators and those being regulated, allowing each member opportunity to become prepared for, and perhaps impact, emerging trends.
To facilitate understanding at different levels, e.g., individual, corporate, institutional, and legislative, typically required to enhance the environment.
To maintain an exemplary Board of Directors, from both the public and private sectors, to carry out the mission of the EPO and provide energetic leadership.
