Indymedia offers alternatives to the WEF and corporate globalization

********************************************************************

"WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE AGAINST, BUT WHAT ARE YOU FOR??"

Tired of hearing that old refrain? In attempting to discredit the democratic movement against corporate globalization, proponents of such institutions as The World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Economic Forum (WEF), Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), The IMF and World Bank often make the false claim that pro-democracy activists present no positive models for economic and social change. We at Indymedia have spent the past year bringing together links to a wide variety of websites and pages that present such alternative views. Now we need your help in spreading the word about this valuable resourse. Are you ready prove to the world that we have models for positive democratic change? Here's what you can do:

* Go to and checkout the site.

(there's also a link at our global site: www.indymedia.org)

* Link the Alternatives site to yours on February 1st (the anniversary of the first civil rights sit-ins in the southern USA and ratification of the anti-slavery 13th Ammendment to the U.S. Constitution)

* SPREAD THE WORD! Mention our URL on your lists, newsgroups, chatrooms, discussion boards, and at meetings and public events.

* Participate in improving the site. Have you taken part in or do you know of projects that present viable, sustainable alternatives to society's current institutions? Do you have ideas for how a different world would work and/or practical examples of how different societies have succeeded in ways most have forgotten? Here's your chance to participate in building the "Alternatives to Corporate Globalization" feature at Indymedia . You may suggest your links by posting to the currentview=alternatives> and/or join the team that's compiling the feature by joining the e-mail list at:

The feature appears on Indymedia's Global and Regional sites, so now's a good time to take part in responding to that tired old corporate refrain by making the "Alternatives to Corporate Globalization" site a focus for positive change.

For further information inquire on the list:
