The facility is equipped with a computer lab and science study lab for use by teachers, students and the general public under the direction of professional staff. The facility also has natural areas of study including a nature trail, forest, native grass and wildflowers, a butterfly garden, and bird watching area.
Public programming is also offered in a series of Saturday nature-themed activities for the entire family and a junior naturalist program for children 12 years and younger.
