Scotland's environment is acclaimed throughout the world as a special place; it is made up of many different parts, its magnificent coastal scenery, mountains and lochs, marine and terrestrial wildlife, woodlands, archaeological and built heritage, and just as important and integral, the people who live, work and visit it. If this complex and irreplaceable environment is to successfully survive the many challenges now facing it, it will take the joint and integrated efforts of all of those working for the environment to pool their expertise and knowledge in common cause.
