The Eurasian Griffon (Gyps fulvus) is one of the most impressive native species of Tramuntana, the island of Cres, and of Croatia in general. Cres's two ornithological reserves ('Podokladi' in the middle part of the island, and 'Kruna' in the northern part) are home to more than 70 nesting couples of these rare birds. .
