Detailed Information:
Sustainable Pittsburgh is committed to embedding environmental and community development issues into the region's evolving economic development strategy and to creating a more inclusive and participatory leadership structure that can harness the collective energy of broad segments of the population.

The crux of Sustainable Pittsburgh is the creation of a network of Affiliates- individuals, businesses, and organizations that are committed to working more closely together to advocate and advance sustainability. Affiliates build an action agenda centered on citizen participation, public policy, and education. These community leaders work to integrate this agenda into the region's mainstream development strategies, and create a vision that establishes sustainability as a key criterion in community decision-making and long-term planning. Particular focus is on the many existing model projects and programs already in-place in our region.
