Shaver's Creek Environmental Center

Shaver's Creek Environmental Center is an outreach resource of Penn State University. Shaver's Creek provides a fundamental framework for educating young and old about the natural world, as well as providing training to teachers, youth leaders, Penn State students, and others on how to use the environment as a classroom.

Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center

Between State College and Huntingdon, State Route 1029 (Charter Oak Road), off route 26 South; (814) 863-2000; www.ShaversCreek.org; Open February to Mid-December, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving Day; Visitor and Raptor Center admission: $2.50 per person, children 3 and under are FREE.

Learn how live eagles, hawks, owls, reptiles, and amphibians are cared for at this lovely environmental center –a resource for Penn State University and you!

Enjoy hands-on activities in the Discovery Room.

Select from a variety of children's nature books and field guides in the bookstore.

Special gardens attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.

Shaver's Creek is the site of wonderful summer camps for children 6 and up. Call for rates.
