Detailed Information:
Bridging The Gap works to unite business, government and individuals in a way that benefits us all and preserves our natural resources for generations to come. We seek simple - and some not so simple - ways to protect our environment, while balancing economic impact and bettering community.

In 1991, Bridging The Gap opened Kansas City's first volunteer-staffed recycling center. A year later, we organized as a 501(c)(3) agency with the mission: To encourage local and global understanding our interconnectedness and to develop this understanding through community education and action.

We soon became a coordinating hub for many diverse environmental projects - from waste prevention to environmental education, from recycling to picking up litter and keeping Kansas City beautiful. Over the years, we've been dubbed "Kansas City's local environmental organization."

Yet, BTG is so much more. Our mantra is "connection." We all live upstream and downstream from someone else. We're all in this together and that's how we work. Together. With businesses, schools, governments and you. With - and for - community.
