Detailed Information:
The legacy of our industrial past and ongoing activities present many environmental and social challenges for example water pollution, waste management and the sustainable redevelopment of brownfield sites where soil and groundwater may be contaminated.

Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Research Centre (CLARRC) Offices and LaboratoriesCLARRC draws on the resources of groups across the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, the Schools of Life Sciences and Built Environment at Napier University and from the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC).

Our activities cover a range of brownfield sites, contaminated land and more generally environmental and pollution issues including:

* Academic research (e.g. subsurface modelling, biosensors, bioremediation, water pollution, composting)

* Contract research (e.g. waste management, treatability studies, product development and testing)

* Laboratory analysis (e.g. environmental, microbiological, waste management, ecotoxicology)

* Commercial services (e.g. geophysics, remediation, bioremediation cultures, constructed wetland design)
