Detailed Information:
Since 1992, Paul G. Hugel and a team of volunteers have been working towards establishing Maui as the environmental sciences center of the world. The Hawaiian Islands are the most remote island chain in the world separated by thousands of miles from the closest continent. The biological diversity here is unique containing many species found no where else on the globe. Hawaii has been called the endangered species capitol of the world. There are more endangered species here than any where else. I feel that Maui is a natural laboratory for the study or rare and endangered species and hope to encourage research and conservation programs.Through publishing of environmental research and educational video here on Maui I hope to popularize Maui as the environmental sciences center of the world. Empowering individuals with technology for global video distribution is one method I am employing to build an environmentally conscious community
