Detailed Information:
West Creek, a tributary of the Cuyahoga River, flows 9 miles through the Cleveland, Ohio suburbs of Parma, Seven Hills, Brooklyn Heights, and Independence. In this densely populated and developed area, West Creek endures as a natural refuge from the urban hustle and bustle. As part of the Ohio and Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor, the West Creek area holds historic significance and the potential for a recreational trail linkage to the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
Founded in 1997, our volunteer-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization has focused on the creation of the West Creek Preserve and Greenway, a 500-acre natural park and regional recreational trail network. With the support of the community, we have successfully preserved over 350 acres for conservation for the public benefit. Other initiatives include water quality improvement, environmental education, and natural resource protection.
