CERC was formed to promote environmental best practices for large conventions, starting with the 2004 national political conventions in Boston and New York. CERC successfully "greened" both the Democratic and Republican 2004 conventions by implementing a suite of intiatives for energy, waste-management, event planning, hotels and transportation.
CERC is now a resource for those interested in improving sustainability in the tourism and convention industry. Guides, brochures and a 104 page Case Study are available for download from the website. CERC staff is glad to share its experience and lessons learned to help green future large conventions.
