IFOAM is the worldwide umbrella organization of organic agriculture movements worldwide, uniting over 700 member organizations in 108 countries. IFOAM's mission is leading, uniting and assisting the organic movement in its full diversity. Our goal is the world wide adoption of ecologically, socially and economically sound systems that are based on the Principles of Organic Agriculture.
IFOAM represents the interests of the organic agriculture sector internationally. IFOAM is the only worldwide umbrella organization responsible for the creation and revision of the basic standards for organic agriculture. IFOAM plays a leading role in the social and political development of organic agriculture worldwide. IFOAM has, among others, official status with FAO, UNCTAD, UNEP, UNCCD, Codex Alimentarius and ISO.
