Rockland County is part of the suburban region around NY City where you get the best out of two worlds; the close proximity to the city is balanced with the vast expanses of park and farmland. This region currently experiences population growth, which puts pressure on the existing green areas, undeveloped land, and infrastructure.
It is our hope that providing a green map will make it easier for Rockland County residents and visitors to find and use ecological resources. In this way, we can all do our share to help preserve the planet and our natural resources in these difficult times. The focus of the map will be to support to local organic producers, local retailers, and environmentally clean services, raise awareness about energy consumption and waste, and inspire community members to reduce-reuse-recycle.
