The ideal candidates are organized, responsible, stick to deadlines, and work well with others. They can keep positive attitudes, articulate our cause to the public and media, and – most importantly – be content living meagerly on the road. Couples applying together will be considered. Sorry, companion animals cannot come along due to regulations on some college campuses the tour will visit.

The Operator will be given the opportunity to assist in choosing a Tour Assistant. Events are held 5 days per week. The tour will launch from Portland, Oregon in early May before traveling down to its permanent home in the Southwest. Staff will be given 10 vacation days per year.

When possible, staff will sleep at homes of supporters, friends, and family, though the vehicle will provide enough comfort to sleep on when required. The vehicle is a Dodge Sprinter passenger van converted to include some RV amenities inside, including: beds, refrigerator/freezer, and power outlets for other appliances like rice cookers or blenders. Staff will be asked to provide their own pillows, bedding, or sleeping bags.

Depending on experience, the Tour Operator will earn between $1,400-$1,700 a month and the Tour Assistant will earn $1,100-$1,400 a month. The staff will be compensated for their work bi-weekly through direct deposit.
