Detailed Information:
The Center provides curricula, and conducts professional development workshops on a variety of subjects ranging from water and air quality to tropical forests and Great Lakes issues. Its current project is the Caring for Planet Earth Series of interactive, multimedia CD-ROM games - Volume 1: The Great Lakes and Volume 2: Tropical Forests, which challenge young people to learn about Great Lakes ecology, tropical forests and environmental issues. Players travel back from the future to learn how decisions made today may affect the Great Lakes for centuries to come. Includes a Glossary and Resource Guide for educators. The series encourages evaluative thinking and decision-making skills, and incorporates arcade-style games to keep the players involved and learning.
