LEARN is a research exchange service offering students a choice of dissertation topics proposed by voluntary environmental organisations in Scotland. The web-based catalogue (www.scotlink.org/learn/), which is continuously updated, contains dozens of topics just waiting to be snapped up. Subjects are not restricted to "environmetal" topics, but include a range from ecology, conservation and resource management to education, politics, information technology, statistics and many more. Some projects are desk-based, some practical, but all offer contact with environmental organisations. LEARN is available to students and voluntary environmental organisations in Scotland, and to incidental queries from further afield. It is run under the auspices of Scottish Environment LINK - voluntary organisations working together to care for and improve Scotland's heritage for people and nature.
