Econetworth was started in late 1997 as a network of environmental professionals from all around the world with the sole purpose of providing expert inputs on the quality of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) that are produced in developing countries.EIAs are required in many countries, but government bodies typically do not have the expertise to evaluate them critically. Econetworth is expected to provide unbiased reports on EIAs to NGOs and government bodies in developing countries that are trying to make up their minds about proposed development projects.Econetworth is an international effort coordinated from Bangalore, India.
