Arcosanti is a "prototype arcology" or "urban laboratory" that is the physical outworking of Paolo Soleri's architectural and philosophical ideas. Arcology (Architecture Ecology) is a reinvention of city planing around the concepts of miniaturization, densification, frugality, and the full use of three dimensional space. This is the antithesis of urban sprawl, and as such, is a significantly more environmentally sound paradigm.
