Mining magnate Colonel WilliamBoyce Thompson founded his arboretumnear Superior,Arizona,just outside the metropolitan Phoenix area , in the roaring1920`s, to imbue in people an appreciation of plants. He wantedto create in this place the most beautiful and useful garden ofits kind in the world. The main entrance to the visitor center ispictured to the left. Almost 70 years later, it is my distinctivepleasure to welcome you to a cyberwalk through this lovelyarboretum. With this walk the Colonel`s vision comes of age.
