Detailed Information:
Denman Forestry Initiative has been established to develop a plan to purchase the one third of Denman Island`s land area that is held by Hancock Timber Resources Group. HTRG is a subsidiary of the Boston based John Hancock Insurance Corporation. HTRG is presently logging their holdings on Denman at an unsustainable rate. The community wishes to practise sustainable ecoforestry on the island.
