Detailed Information:
DAKSHINAYAN is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation providing basic education and health care to indigenous people and other rural communities. It promotes international and intercultural solidarity and a better understanding of the myth and reality of "third-world" poverty through its Development Education Programme. DAKSHINAYAN believes in NEED-based development and not FUND-dictated development. It prefers to raise funds for specific needs through individual donations and contributions rather than undertake activities because funding is available. DAKSHINAYAN was set up in 1991.
