Detailed Information:
We are an all volunteer organization that fights to protect the Pine Bush, a unique inland pine barrens ecosystem in Albany NY and surrounding towns. Through court action and other means we work to compel local and state goverments to obey their own environmental laws. We have had a wide impact, and are nationally known, with our court cases appearing in law school textbooks. The Pine Bush is home to the Karner Blue Butterfly, which primarily through our efforts was declared an endangered species by the Federal government in 1992.
