Detailed Information:
The Forever Wild Tree Conservancy focuses on smaller pockets of privately-owned land joining state-owned landbecause these -- although overlooked by big conservation organizations -- are ecologically more important to maintainthe uniform integrity of Wild Forest lands. These smaller parcels of mature timber are extremely vulnerable to logging concerns. They are subject to being logged, and then sold to developers. (It should be noted that Forever Wild Tree Conservancy isn`t against logging, as it is aviable economic necessity of The Adirondacks, but we do strongly believe that it should be restricted to ecologicallyhealthy areas, not Deep Forest areas.) The Forever Wild Tree Conservancy is a membership organization, operating within the Adirondack Park, that savesthe forest one tree at a time. With the help of our charter sponsors, we do this in two ways: we directly purchase land, preserving acres of forests in one fell swoop. We also pay owner-residents to keep their trees growing on their land --who otherwise would be forced to repeatedly cut and sell their trees in order to survive and pay their taxes.
