Detailed Information:
Trips for Kids, based in San Rafael, California, is a non-profit organization that takes inner-city and low-income kids on mountain bike rides in Marin County. The non-profit serves the San Francisco BayArea and was founded in 1986 by Marilyn Price. It has expanded from a once-a-week operation to organizing rides on Saturday and Sunday every weekend of the year, along with mid-week rides during the summer. In addition, the program has grown to include two earn-a-bike programs for low-income youth and a thrift shop that repairs and recycles hundreds of bikes each year.
We raise two-thirds of the funding for our programs from our Re-Cyclery Thrift Store, located at 610 Fourth Street in San Rafael. Re-Cyclery sells used bikes, clothing and equipment. It can be contacted at 415/458-2986, which is also the central number for all our programs.
