The Center for International Environmental Law(CIEL) is a public interest, not-for-profit environmental law firm founded in 1989 to bring the energy and experience of the U.S. public interest environmental movement to the critical task of strengthening and developing international and comparative environmental law, policy, and management around the world. CIEL also directs a joint research andteaching program at The American University Washington College of Law, which includes nine courses on international and comparative environmental law, as well as on-the-job experience through an extensive internship program to help launch the careers of law students and lawyers dedicated to environmental protection.
