The Florida Solar Energy Center is the largest and most active state-supported renewable energy and energy efficiency research and training institute in the United States. An institute of the University of Central Florida, FSEC functions as the state's energy research and training center. Its mission is to research and develop energy technologies that enhance Florida's economy and environment, and to educate the public, practitioners and students on the benefits of clean, environmentally-friendly energy practices. FSEC's 150-member staff includes 95 professional with expertise in engineering, energy research, building science, energy and policy analysis, education and training. The Center has gained national recognition for its research in many areas including photovoltaics, solar thermal systems, hydrogen from renewable resources, air quality, and energy-efficient buildings.
