Detailed Information:
GBA staff, board, interns and volunteers work together to implement our three program areas (Green Team Builders, Education and Research, and Public Relations and Policy) and run the Resource Center. GBA began in 1993 as a cooperative effort among four environmental groups to promote more environmentally sensitive building practices. The early activities of GBA were focused on coalition building and education of self-motivated professionals. Since then, the organization has hired an Executive Director and received funding to create a professionally staffed organization to actively promote green building and expand the existing coalition's impact. GBA has adopted a strategic approach to driving market demand through the education of progressive-thinking decisionmakers within the commercial sector. In order to increase local capacity to meet this demand, GBA began providing a variety of educational opportunities for building professionals.
