Detailed Information:
The central goal of the Center is to understand how multiple stresses affect biological processes in aquatic and terrestrial systems. Within five to ten years, research in this area should provide improved indicators of ecological change from multiple stressors as well as techniques to predict and manage at least population-level changes in impacted species. Integrated biochemical and ecological studies will provide improved understanding of stressor effects at the ecosystem level. Another goal of the Center is to maintain information exchange and coordination across and within the various areas of research. Coordinated studies over severallevels of biological organization require effective integration of research across traditional disciplines.
