Are there any forum members from the San Francisco Bay area?
I'm interested by the news that the local government there has opted to ban wood burning stoves from new homes - including those certified by the federal Environmental Protection Agency as low emission.
This is a decision by the regulators of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and what seems particularly contrary to me is that, while even the most modern and efficient banning woodburning stoves from new-build homes, they're also providing "$3 million in rebates to cover at least half of the cost of replacing old wood-burning devices with modern, cleaner-heating ones".
Unless I'm misunderstanding this, they are forbidding building contractors to install a new stove but if you've got an old stove they will pay you to buy a new one.
The news appears here and I have seen it corroborated elsewhere.
