Hi everyone, I live in a remote town in the Northern Territory Australia. Our closest city is 3.5hours away and we have no recycling in our area. I have been burning our cardboard to reduce our landfill waste. Can someone please tell me If it would be better environmentallly to burn the rubbish or landfill it? |

Depends of if you can use it for heat, otherwise how much rain for rotting it in a landfill. It can be shredded for worm food, but the shiny colored kind can not be. It has to stay damp to rot. |

I don't know if this works in your NT town (BTW, I loved my vacation in Oz), but I break down my cardboard boxes, save them up, and then when I get a lot, I take them to one of those pack and ship places where they re-use the boxes. When broken down they don't take much space, so even if you have to go to a big town once every few months, if there is a pack and ship store there, they would be happy to get them. Bob |
