Since I work in the oil and gas industry, I do my best to consume as much as possible. Any tips on lowering my fuel mileage?

Well, we wouldn’t want that. I don’t have a lot to spare.

I read an article on the things that your mechanic wants you to do.
1) Jackrabbit starts
2) Hard braking
3) Don't change the oil

Why? All these things bring you back to the repair shop.

So if you follow my advice, not only do you get 100 extra miles per tankful (and those dollars in your pocket) but your car will not need repairing as often (more dollars in your pocket).

If course if you work for the oil company or just like to troll, I guess you won't heed good advice.

Some people swear by running an engine on gasoline vapors. It might all be just a bunch of snake oil. I haven't personally tried it. I will post two different views on it below, one with real-life proof, and the other with claims. It might help you if it really does work. If you try it, let us know how it goes!

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read a long time ago that if you keep your gas tank half full or more, less water condenses in the gas and it gives you better gas mileage.

I do know that if you accelerate very slowly and coast when you can so that you apply the brakes as minimally as possible you can get 100 miles more per tank. That's a lot of gas not polluting the planet.

I've done that on 4 cars and beat the EPA gas mileage by that amount on every one. It's also easier on the cars so they need fewer repairs.
