Hi Guys,

My name is Olive, an environmentally conscious mom of 2.

I am so interested in listening to your ideas on how we can help to save the environment a little at home, I have begun my home schooling journey with my 2 young children after the Coronavirus pandemic and I am struggling at the moment.

Though I have found Twinkl and their https://www.twinkl.ie/go interactive resources and their https://www.twinkl.ie/resource/t-tp-5194-things-that-make-me-happy-activity-sheet Eco ink saving printing option, they also have resources on recycling which I can't wait to use too.

If you have any tips for me on Home Schooling or helping the environment, please let me know - i'd love to hear them :)

Olive

Hi Olive. I suppose stressing "reduce, reuse, recycle" within the appropriate subject matter would be favorable--with your home-schooing, I mean. Us first-world in habitants generally grew up in a world where items were used once and disposed of. In my home, we rinse and reuse paper towels. Sometimes, when I discover that toilet paper wasn't even necessary, I just roll it back up....BWAHAHAHA just kidding. But seriously, critical thinking is something I'd push hard if I was home-schooling.

If you were "environmentally conscious" you would have had one or none and later in life.

Turn off your Air Conditioner. 20% of the world's energy generated goes to Air Conditioners.

Paint your roof white to reflect the heat back out of the atmosphere.

Get rid of your lawn if you have one and plant a meadow.

Plant native and appropriate trees in your yard.

Do not drink bottled water.

Reduce your consumption to the bare minimum.

When driving, use extremely slow acceleration and before stopping coast as much as you can (avoid using your brakes if you can coast). That means when the light ahead turns red, immediately take your foot off the gas and coast. I get 100 extra miles per tankful by driving like this, which means less gas consumption.

This would be just a start.

Also, quit using your clothes dryer, hang anything that can take it on a clothes line. Why use polluting electricity to dry your clothes when the sun will do it for free with no global warming.

And your air conditioner heats the atmosphere two ways, the use of generated power and the heat island outdoors, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more, which requires you to turn up the AC, which heats the air up even more until it's too hot to grow the crops we need to feed ourselves.
