I never watched him. I don't think he was on in the late 50s and early 60s, was he? I watched Sky King, Whirlybirds, Superman, Bugs Bunny, WWII movies and westerns of the 30s and 40s, Have Gun Will Travel, and One Step Beyond, later Twilight Zone.
The "Ideas in the garden of your mind" didn't hit until my first LSD experience, on leave before Vietnam in 1969. Now that garden is my Earthship, or maybe me playing acid rock solar guitar, or maybe the place I live with deer, foxes, squirrels and other animals playing among the Ponderosa Pines, Douglas Fir, and Aspens and around the Pike's Peak Granite rock formations.
This garden universe vibrates complete
Some, we get a sound so sweet
Vibrations reach on up to become light
And then through gamma, out of sight
Between the eyes and ears there lie
The sounds of colour and the light of a sigh
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe
But it's all around if we could but perceive
To know ultraviolet, infrared and X-rays
Beauty to find in so many ways
Two notes of the chord, that's our full scope
But to reach the chord is our life's hope
And to name the chord is important to some
So they give it a word, and the word is...OM
(Graeme Edge, the Moody Blues)
